Hi lovelies, Today I want to share my experience at the Fairmont Royal York hotel in Toronto.
Let me start by saying that our stay proves that dreams do come true. My husband Gavin and I got married 8 year ago and we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We never had a big reception or wedding photos. We went to city hall because we didn’t have a lot of money and decided to invest in our home instead. We didn’t have a honey moon either but I know some day in the near future we will get to enjoy one! ;o)
Deep down I’ve always wanted a big wedding and those who know me also know I am all about celebrating life and big events but we had to prioritize.
The Fairmont Royal York is located in the heart of Toronto, across the street from Union Station. A majestic building sits right accross from the CN Tower and joins these group of iconic buildings in the city. I remember walking by in many many years ago wondering what it would look like inside and just dreaming about staying there one day.
My dream came to reality and we enjoyed the most romantic weekend stay.
We were welcomed by one of the hotel managers and immediately he checked us in, our bags (I brought many looks as I wanted to do a fairy tale inspired photoshoot at the hotel) made their way to our room and within minutes we arrived at our beautiful suite. Moments later, we were surprised with a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, a cute stuffed animal and roses. I was in tears, I always get emotional because I really appreciate every moment and so crying is a way a lifestyle to me ha!
We met our photographer Laura Clarke who was beyond amazing, so talented and a pleasure to work with. I had a couple of outfit changes as I had a vision for what I wanted to put together at the hotel.
I’ve always been a big believer in dreaming big and working really hard for what you want. Once you get it, take a step back, enjoy it and live it to the fullest!
At dinner time we had the opportunity to get a preview of the chef Graeme Little‘s 5 course Valentine’s Day menu at EPIC restaurant which was a 1940’s inspired meal paired with vintage silver wear and a bottle of Veuve Cliquot.
The five course meal included: oysters, and organic beet risotto, lobster thermidor, steak, opera cake and coconut macaroons created by the hotel in 1929! Full Menu here
The meal was a delight and everyone at the restaurant was lovely. My heart was stolen by George, a waiter who has been at the hotel for 45 YEARS! We chatted and he said this was the only job he’s ever had and we were so impressed by that, it only speaks to the quality of people and the care this hotel for its employees.
The night was magical and the next morning we enjoyed breakfast in bed, then we headed over to the indoor pool and health club for some fun and we also had a chance to visit the SPA located in the lower level.
I want to thank The Fairmont Royal York hotel for a dreamy stay, we had the best time and hope to come back very soon!
This is my visual story. I hope you enjoy it!
