I have always been a firm believer that dreams do come true if you are willing to work hard for them. Some of them might take time but those are the ones worth having, this trip was exactly that.

Travelling is a magical thing, your mood is lifted, you are more alert and aware of your surroundings as you are being stimulated by new things but also, you become more appreciative of everything you experience because it is new or momentary.

We booked our vacation with Sunwing and they took care of everything for us. I was so happy to bring my family with me.

From the moment we arrived at the airport, the service was amazing when we checked in and once we were on the plane, we had some drinks and off we went!

When we arrived at the airport, we were greeted by Nexus Tours and they took the three of us privately to our hotel.

We stayed at the beautiful Azul Ixtapa Grand which is an all inclusive hotel located at the very end of the hotel zone strip in Ixtapa.  The moment we arrived we knew it was going to be special. Jonathan, the hotel manager greeted us and welcomed us with open arms along with his staff.

We stayed on the top floor overlooking the resort and beach and every time I think of that moment my heart melts so I am in tears again as I type this. I never take anything for granted so being able to enjoy this moment, the view and the excitement with my two loves was beyond amazing!

Our room was spacious and spotless. Gavin and I had a giant tub in our room and the bed was huge and so comfy.

The hotel has 4 a la carte restaurants. Mexican, Italian, Asian fusion and a buffet and we got to try them all. My favorite one was called the Oyster bar which was located right by the beach. You could have your breakfast there and it was hands down our favorite spot. It looked like a ship and you could just sit there and eat nonstop and watch the water. Ahhh missing that view right about now.

We wanted to relax by the pool and the beach as much as we could but its always fun to mix it up with hotel activities and sightseeing. Nexus Tours gave us 2 amazing experiences. We got to enjoy a private city tour of both Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo which are part of the Guerrero province while learning about its history and daily life. We went for lunch at Bandidos which delicious seafood tacos and the best margaritas. The local market was my favorite, I bought some shoes, a tote and a couple of other things for my home.

There were endless private villas, condos and beautiful homes that belong in its majority to US and Canadian residents. For the most part these are retired couples that enjoy the quietness and laid back vibe the town has to offer. This is not a party town, which I really loved. I enjoyed the fact that you could party in your own terms and go to the bar and make friends.

We also got to enjoy a turtle release trip and it was one of the best experiences of my life. We went to Troncones beach which is a surfer’s beach and spent the afternoon drinking beer and waiting for the turtles to come out. We released them at sunset and it was pure magic. I was in tears the whole time. I want to thank Nexus Tours for this amazing experience.

The hotel also had some fun trips to enjoy so we went snorkeling and sailing on a catamaran boat for the day and it was so fun to get out there and explore. We saw beautiful fish and lobsters and Captain Kevin was a riot, I basically hung out with him the whole time. He is American and moved to Ixtapa from Miami and speaks fluent Spanish with a Mexican accent which I thought was so cute. His crew was also awesome and fun, we had beer and lunch on the boat and towards the end we got to enjoy some sailing

One of the highlights of the hotel was the spa! I had the opportunity to go for a 60 min massage and enjoyed the facilities which include a sauna, steam room, ice room and the hydrotherapy pool. This pool was a dream (You can see a picture here) and it had about 10 different water massage chairs ready to treat the neck, back and legs. I did not want to leave. Hands down my favorite spa to date.

The hotel also has a lot of features to enjoy like an amazing Gym, night entertainment, a kids club and a lobby bar where everyone can hang and listen to live music and have some drinks.

We also had the opportunity to meet a lot of members of the staff. They work so hard to make sure everything is just perfect and I want to send them a big hug and thank them for their efforts:

To Anel Valdovinos for making sure all our reservations were taking care of, from dinner and lunch plans to our daily coffee in bed and room service. She always has a smile on her face and makes you want to give her a big hug. She is the sweetest.

To Ruby Noyola, the event planner for the hotel. She took care of every detail for our romantic dinner, we had rose petals forming heart shapes, champagne, a 3 course meal and just the most beautiful flowers all around us at the pier. We couldn’t believe our eyes. She was also planning a beautiful wedding and was super busy but again, she was so talented and sweet, thank you so much for giving us the most beautiful memories.

To Jonathan Ayala for making sure we were taking care of every day. For surprising us with different local gifts every evening when we came to our room, we got coffee, sea salt, vanilla, and some other local delicacies. We got our names embroidered on hats, mugs and slippers. Every detail was so thoughtful and we cannot wait to come back and visit!

Finally, I want to thank Sunwing for a wonderful trip that included ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING, flight, hotel, fun activities, food, drinks and most importantly, the memories made with my family. I hope you enjoy my visual story below and stay tuned for our next adventure!

I HIGHLY recommend Ixtapa as your next travel destination! You will love it! Any questions, let me know!
