Sleep is your weapon. Never underestimate the power of a good snooze.
YOUR BED! my secret weapon is a comfortable bed. I am taking the whole enchilada, Mattress, mattress pad, comforter, sheets and pillows have to be the best quality I can afford because your bed should feel like a cloud, a soft, inviting, cozy cloud that is waiting to embrace you and help you get the sleep you need to kill it the next day.
All my bedding is from Casper.
My sheets and duvet cover are all white. The reason I love white is because its fresh, clean, bright and also, because I love to accessorize my bed just like my outfits.
I am always adding pillows, furry blankets and my wall paper as you will see below is pretty loud so white is perfect with everything.
Why is so important you ask?
I have been guilty of working way too much ever since I started my own business. Sometimes I work 16 hour days and for the last couple of months sleeping has taken a back seat.
When I talked to my husband abut it he said “Lets break this down, have you eaten? have you slept?” I couldn’t event think straight and I said to him “do you mean as in taking a nap?” He said No Rebeca, as in getting a full night of sleep. I didn’t know when was the last time I had done that. THAT WAS THE ANSWER, I was angry, frustrated and crying because I was so exhausted and apparently had moved to denial town.
I was waking up after 4 hours with huge headaches and my energy levels were so low it was hard to concentrate.
I decided to change what I was doing and forced myself to sleep. I have always loved sleeping and sometimes I wouldn’t get out of bed until noon on the weekends but now that my business is my baby and I love what I do, it doesn’t really feel like a job but that can be dangerous because I can loose track of what really matters when it comes to taking care of myself.
I want you to learn from my mistakes and listen to the signs right away. Your body will tell you, irritability, lack of concentration, all these are signs that your body is sending you saying: Girl, you need your sleep!
So here’s the scoop, I have given myself a time to finish working and about 30 min to prepare myself for bed: Cleaning my face, brushing my teeth, no social media because it gets me so distracted and down the rabbit hole I go.
The only thing I do is to check my calendar and notes for the next day and make sure everything is in planned and next steps are clear (I have major OCD when it comes to my work) but believe me, it helps so much knowing that things are under control or in the works.
Getting 8 hours of sleep makes all the difference the next day.
Sweet dreams my lovelies!
